Ferries
Caledonian Macbrayne have frequent sailings to and from Mull, on three routes. It is advisable to book the Oban/Craignure ferry well ahead during the holiday season. Tel: 0800 0665000. For the other ferries, arrive at least ten minutes before the advertised sailing time.
- Oban/Craignure (45 minutes)
- Lochaline/Fishnish (20 minutes)
- Kilchoan/Tobermory (40 minutes)

On Mull
First go to Salen, the shortest routes are:
- From Craignure: Turn right off the ferry, Salen 11 miles
- From Fishnish: Turn right when you reach the A849 (1 mile), Salen 6 miles
- From Tobermory: Take the A848 south east to Salen, 12 miles
Gruline Estate
Take the B8035 west from Salen. The drive entrance, second left past Gruline Church about 2.5 miles from Salen, is between two stone pillars. About 600 yards on the drive it divides. Take the left turn and follow the signs. Macquarie House is about ½ a mile further on, past the square with 3 cottages.
